Thursday, March 29th

Pre-Conference Workshop*
8:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Topic:  GME Leadership Development - Moving Beyond Being a Great Teacher: GME program leaders (program directors and associate program directors) often move into program administration because of their commitment to and passion for medical education—i.e., they love teaching and they’re great teachers. However, the knowledge and skill sets needed for program administration has notable differences from those needed as a clinician and clinical educator. This presentation will share the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville experience in GME leadership development. The lessons learned will include processes and structure for orienting and developing new GME leaders and supporting experienced GME leaders in their administrative roles.
