Optional Friday Afternoon Workshop:  Leading Your Institution in Achieving Health Equity

Laura Botwinick, MS, Director, Graduate Program in Health Administration and Policy, University of Chicago, and 2004-05 IHI Scholar
Donald Goldmann, MD Chief Medical & Scientific Officer, Institute for Healthcare Improvement

The AIAMC’s fifth National Initiative Improving Community Health and Health Equity Through Medical Education will come to a close in early April.  Our commitment to health equity, however, will be sustained and spread through all AIAMC-member institutions.  This workshop is designed to both take NI V participants to the next level in their role as health equity leaders as well as provide a primer to those members newly embarking on their health equity journey.  Our colleagues at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) recently published a white paper entitled, Achieving Health Equity:  A Guide for HealthCare Organizations.  This workshop will share the findings of that white paper and provide attendees with practical advice, executable steps and a conceptual framework that can guide any health care organization in charting its own journey to improved health equity.  Laura Botwinick, an author of the IHI white paper, and other IHI leaders, will facilitate this engaging, hands-one workshop.  Please note that seating is limited and that a separate registration fee is required.

6:30

Annual Awards Dinner – On Property at “Walker’s Landing”

We will celebrate the conclusion of National Initiative V and recognize all participating teams.  At least one team member should attend, and we hope many of you will join us.  Located on the marsh side of the plantation, Walker's Landing offers natural splendor views. Guests can enjoy a sunset view from the deck surrounding this octagonal-shaped facility. Indoors boasts hardwood floors, a fieldstone fireplace and windows surrounding the perimeter.  Please note that seating is limited and that a separate registration fee is required.  The registration fee covers your dinner, one complimentary drink ticket and door-to-door motorcoach transportation.
